The Secrosoft National Online Debate Championship (SNODC) is a nationwide virtual debate competition designed to discover, train, and celebrate the brightest young minds from across Nigeria.
For the first time, students from all 36 states + FCT compete online — from anywhere — for national recognition, trophies, and digital certificates.

About the Competition

Debate Format: British Parliamentary–styled moderated debate

Categories:

Senior Category (Feb – April 2026)

Junior Category (June – August 2026)

Competition Days: Saturdays only

Mode: 100% Online (Zoom / Google Meet)

National Coverage: Students represent their state through group stages → knockout → quarter-finals → semi-finals → finals.

SNOD-C is designed to promote critical thinking, public speaking, research ability, teamwork, and leadership.

Competition Structure

🔹 Group Stage (9 Groups; A–I)

37 states are arranged into 9 balanced groups.
Each group competes internally.
Top two winners from each group progress to the Round of 18 (knockout stage).

🔹 Knockout Stage

18 states compete in 9 knockout matches.
Winners advance to the quarter-finals.

🔹 Quarter-Finals → Semi-Finals → Grand Final

Quarter-Final Winners → Semi-Finals

Semi-Final Losers → 3rd Place Debate

Semi-Final Winners → National Grand Final

Judging & Scoring System

SNODC uses a dual scoring method:

Public engagement through secure online voting.

👩‍⚖️ Judges’ Score (70%)

Professional judges score based on:

Content & research quality, Presentation & communication, Persuasiveness, Rebuttals, Team coordination, Time management

Final scores = Audience (30%) + Judges (70%)

The SNODC 2026 Group Division Table presents a clear and organized breakdown of how all 37 participating states are distributed across nine competitive groups. Each group has been carefully arranged to ensure balance, fairness, and broad representation of Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. This structure allows every contestant to compete on an equal playing field while showcasing their debating skills against a diverse selection of opponents. The group stage serves as the foundational phase of the championship, with only the strongest and most persuasive debaters emerging as top representatives for their states.

SNOD-C 2026 is the Secrosoft National Online Debate Championship, a nationwide virtual debate competition for junior and senior secondary school students across Nigeria.

Students from all 36 states and the FCT can register. The competition features Junior and Senior categories.

All states compete in nine groups. The top two from each group qualify for knockout rounds, leading to quarter-finals, semifinals, third-place debate, and the grand finale.

Senior Category: February – April 2026 (Saturdays only)

Junior Category: June – August 2026 (Saturdays only)

SNODC 2026 is conducted entirely online using secure video conferencing platforms.

Students from each state will undergo a state-level screening debate, and the top three will represent their state in the national group stage.

Scoring combines:

70% Panel of Judges’ Score

30% Public/Audience Voting
This ensures both professional assessment and audience engagement.

Debate motions will cover education, technology, governance, society, environment, and other relevant national/global issues. Topics will be announced before each stage.

No. Participation in SNODC 2026 is 100% free for all students.

Registration is done online via the official SNODC portal. A parent/guardian or school confirmation may be required.
